Energy Ministers’ Meeting, Halifax, 21 September 2018

Protecting power systems against cyber attacks was one of the agenda items at the G7 Energy Ministers’ Meeting on 21 September 2018 in Halifax. The digitalisation of the energy infrastructure had increased the vulnerability of the corresponding systems and they had become the target of cyber criminals and cyber terrorists. To improve the possibilities to defend and respond to such attacks, the G7 Energy Ministers had agreed to launch a new project called “Cybersecurity for Digitalized Energy Infrastructure Systems”. The project lists four concrete measures, including an early warning system, joint risk analysis and skills and knowledge transfer.

The Multistakeholder Conference on Artificial Intelligence announced at the G7 Summit in Charlevoix in May 2018 has now been scheduled for 6 December 2018 in Montreal.
