The AU is trying to raise its profile in the area of Internet Governance. It organises an annual "AU Internet Summit". In May 2017, a policy document titled "Internet Infrastructure Security Guidelines for Africa" was adopted in close cooperation with ISOC. The AU strongly supports the African IGF. However, the African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection adopted in 2014 has so far only been signed by nine African states.
