Internet Governance, and in particular the evolution of the digital economy, has been a topic of the G20 states since the G20 summit in Antalya in 2015. At the G20 Hangzhou summit in 2016, the “G20 Digital Economy Development and Cooperation Initiative” (G20 DEDCI) was launched.
Since 2017, the ministers responsible for the digital economy come together at a specific separate G20 meeting. It is preceded by a so-called multistakeholder conference, where non-governmental representatives work out recommendations to the governments.
