Q2/2020 - INTERPOL
Publication on cyber threats and campaign “Wash your cyber hands”, 06 May 2020
On 6 May 2020, Interpol published a paper in Singapore with the title “Global Landscape on COVID-19 Cyberthreats”, which draws attention to new threats posed by cyber crime in times of the pandemic. At the same time, INTERPOL launched the global campaign “Wash your cyber hands”, which gives instructions to the Internet end user on how to improve their cyber hygiene. Craig Jones, INTERPOL's Cybercrime Director, reported a significant increase in cyber crime, ranging from attacks on medical facilities to new forms of blackmail software. To protect oneself against such attacks, he said, one need not be an Internet expert. Even the observance of simple basic rules of cyber hygiene could considerably improve the level of immunisation of millions of Internet users against criminal acts on the Internet[1].
