Q3/2018 - 6th Interpol-Europol Cybercrime Conference

The joint annual conference of Interpol and Europol, held since 2012, took place from 18 to 20 September in Singapore. The focal issues of the 2018 conference were collective action to fight cybercrime in the darknet, the development of new strategies to combat ransomware, also in relation with crypto currencies, and improving digital forensics.

Tim Morris, Executive Director of Police Services, Interpol, said in his keynote speech that the technical innovations – from the Internet of Things to artificial intelligence – provided new opportunities to effectively tackle cybercrime on a global level. New fields included for instance the profiling of cybercriminals through analysing their online behaviour.
